Market Overview
On Thursday, benchmark indices surged for the third consecutive session. The Nifty 50 jumped 304 points to close at 25,549, while the BSE Sensex rallied 1,000 points to settle at 83,755. The Bank Nifty also hit a fresh all-time high of 57,263.45, buoyed by strong buying in private sector banks.
Sector-wise, private banks, oil & gas, and metal stocks led the rally with gains of 1–2%. However, realty and media stocks saw profit booking, ending the day slightly lower. The BSE Midcap Index outperformed with a 0.5% gain, while Smallcap stocks remained flat due to stock-specific churn.
Market Outlook
Shiju Kuthupalakkal, Senior Technical Research Manager at Prabhudas Lilladher, highlighted that the Nifty 50 has broken out of a tight range with a bullish candle formation above the key 25,300 resistance. He expects the index to test levels of 25,700 to 26,200 in the near term, with support now placed around 25,250–25,300.
For Bank Nifty, Kuthupalakkal noted the index has entered uncharted territory and is poised for further upside, targeting 58,500 and 60,000, with critical support at 56,000.
